Save Koalas: Reduce the Speed Limit

As we rally to safeguard the koalas in Gordon, Victoria, from the perils of timber harvesting, another critical battle unfolds on the adjacent highway where these iconic creatures face a heightened risk of harm. The ongoing efforts by dedicated wildlife rescuers to secure reduced speed limits near the Gordon bluegum plantation have encountered roadblocks for over two years. Tragically, in the past 12 months alone, four koalas have lost their lives attempting to cross the highway, underscoring the urgent need for action.

We call on our supporters to join us in a plea to the Roads Minister and Environment Minister, urging them to act swiftly on implementing reduced speed limits on the highway adjacent to the Gordon bluegum plantation. This crucial step will not only protect our beloved koalas but will set a precedent for enhanced safety measures in wildlife hotspots across the state.

Let us unite in our appeal for compassion and responsibility, ensuring that our roads become less perilous obstacles for Australia's unique and vulnerable wildlife.
